Hello my name is Will Crandall and welcome to CrandallReviews.com

CrandallReviews was born with the simple intention of creating a space where I can recommend movies to the world. Not just movies, but also TV, books, art, comics, food and whatever else I think the world needs to experience. Mostly that will be movies because I see A LOT of movies and have some strong opinions. There are thousands of movie reviewers out there, so why should you listen to me? In two words: narcissism and love. I'm narcissistic enough to believe that my opinions and thoughts might convince you to give a movie a chance and expose you to new films that could change the way you look at the world. I love movies, I always have and I always will. I love everything about movies: writing, planning, casting, rehearsing, shooting, editing, screening, and of course reviewing and debating. I love all types of movies from absurd and cheap horror, to blockbuster balls-to-the-wall action, to movies so artistic you don't have any idea of what's really going on. I love them all. I am lucky to have been born in an era where I can watch an endless stream of infinite movies. With all of the thousands and thousands of movies I have seen, my obsession with the world of cinema has led me to some amazing discoveries and I would love to share these movies and the way I think about film as a whole. Hopefully I can help you to discover some new favorite movies and get you to watch and enjoy films that you would not have watched otherwise.

Many reviewers are too focused on what a movie means - its cultural importance, what it does for art - that they forget a movies ultimate purpose: to entertain. If a film can be elevated with art and meaning, as most masterpiece films are, that's even better. But at its core a movie is supposed to entertain you. What good is a movie with a new and radical way of thinking about the world if it's boring as hell and no one wants to see it? My goal is to reveal movies that fill you with excitement, inspire imagination and force you to feel strong emotions. I will find fun facts about each movie and help you, the viewer, decide where to best spend your time.

A little bit about myself, I am a 28 year old dreaming of being a screenwriter and currently living in Culver City, a neighborhood in Los Angeles California. I grew up in a military family moving all over the world but no matter where I went, the movies and books I found and brought along were always there for me and always the same. I could relive or experience those moments whenever I wanted and as long as I had the movie, nothing could take those experiences away from me. I first fell in love with movies in 8th grade, just after moving to Pensacola Florida, where I was given a copy of Wedding Crashers Unrated on DVD. The movie helped me to make my first real friends there because people would come over to my house to watch it. Sure, at first they were just coming over to see boobs in a movie, but those friendships grew and it was the movie that originally connected us. The military base where I was living at the time cemented my eternal love for movies with the best deal ever: any 3 movies you want for 3 days for $3. That was it for me, I began renting movies every 3 days and watching them constantly - I've never looked back. My favorite movies are action, horror and science fiction. My least favorite movies are movies about dogs. I love dogs but the last thing I want to see is a movie about them. My next post will be a list of my favorite movies so you can understand exactly the kind of films that I like.

Speaking of movie reviews, I'd like to take a moment to explain my patent-pending and totally original review system. I use two ranking systems. The first is a simple 1-10; a 10 is a masterpiece and a 0 is something with absolutely no redeeming features. Hell, even Sharknado can be ridiculous and absurd entertainment and earn a 4. The other review system is my original patent-pending 5 level system:

1) Skip

2) Rent

3) Check It Out

4) Opening Day

5) MUST SEE THE MOFO!

Again, not too hard to figure out. Each review will feature language relative to the movies rating (R rated language in R rated movies, G rated for G movies). I will do my best to include any and all fun facts I discover, and of course, there will NEVER be spoilers in any reviews. People who spoil movies are the lowest of the low, true scum. Not the cool kind like in Mos Eisley, more like Iosef Tarasov, the bad guys in Rambo 4, or a T-1000. The score will be right at the top of each review and then again on the bottom. Finally, please don't hesitate to reach out, even if it is just to agree or disagree. I love talking about movies and I'm excited to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

The world is a wild and busy place and every day new movies, new TV shows, new books, new video games, new work opportunities and a million other things are bombarded at us, demanding our time. Let me help you find something to watch and relax with, something fun that will take you to another world.

Let's watch some movies.
